The 2009 season marks my 25th consecutive year as a competitive triathlete. In April of 1982, at the young age of 35, I decided to commit to training for my first triathlon.
I went from being a casual jogger, occasional biker and a terrible
swimmer to a dedicated and fit competitive athlete. I began by taking
a few swimming lessons, and upping the intensity and frequency of my running and biking. That is all it took. I was hooked.

I strongly encourage others to partake in triathlons because they have changed my life for the better. Not only do I receive physical and emotional satisfaction from the training and competition, but I am also able to contribute philanthropically to a variety of worthwhile charities, including the Century 100 mile ride in Philadelphia for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Century 100 mile ride in NYC and NJ for MS, the NYC Marathon for Central Park Conservancy and multiple triathlons for the Ironman Foundation.
